1903 Ford™ Runabout
The First “Model A”
Although many people think of the 1927-1931 cars as the Ford Model A’s, actually
the very first Fords produced in 1903 were also Model A’s. This Runabout,
despite its horse buggy appearance and $850 price, was the beginning of the Ford
dynasty. Ford sold 1708 cars in 1903, putting it in 3rd place behind Oldsmobile
and Cadillac. By 1906, Ford was #1 in sales, a position it held for 21
consecutive years.
