Laurette Charette

BIDDEFORD - Laurette Charette, 79, of Elm Street died Thursday at Pine Point Nursing Center, Scarborough.

She was born Aug. 21, 1919 in Biddeford, a daughter of Adelard and Laura Brunelle Gobeil, and was educated locally.

She married Gerard Charette Sept. 1, 1939.

Mrs. Charette was employed at Bates Mfg. Co. and John Roberts Inc. for many years. She then owned and operated Pond Cove Cleaners in Cape Elizabeth with her husband for 15 years, retiring in 1983.

She was a member of St. Joseph Church, Daughters of Isabella and Biddeford Senior
Citizens.

Mrs. Charette enjoyed traveling to music shows and sugar parties with her friends.

She was predeceased by her husband May 17, 1986.

Survivors include a son Roger "Joe" of Saco; four brothers, George, Alfred, Arthur and Henri Gobeil, all of Biddeford; five sisters, Yvonne Binette of Saco, Alice Bedard of Newfield, Anna Neault of Biddeford and Irene (Mrs. Robert) Dudevoir of Old Orchard Beach; and one granddaughter.

BIDDEFORD - Laurette Charette, 79, of Elm Street, died Thursday at Pine Point Nursing Center after a long illness.

She was born in Biddeford, a daughter of Adelard and Laura Brunelle Gobeil, and attended local schools.

She married Gerard Charette on Sept. 1, 1939.

Mrs. Charette worked at Bates Manufacturing and for John Roberts Incorporated for many years. She then owned and operated Pond Cove Cleaners in Cape Elizabeth with her husband for 15 years, retiring in 1983.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, the Daughters of Isabella and Biddeford Senior Citizens. She enjoyed music shows and sugar parties with her friends.

Her husband died May 17, 1986.

Surviving are a son, Roger Charette of Saco; four brothers, George Gobeil, Alfred Gobeil, Arthur Gobeil and Henri Gobeil, all of Biddeford; four sisters, Yvonne Binette of Saco, Alice Bedard of Newfield, Anna Neault of Biddeford and Mrs. Robert (Irene) Dudevoir of Old Orchard Beach and one granddaughter.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St. A funeral Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Church. Burial
will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
